Grand Rapids, MI–Jeremy Smith stopped 25 shots to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 3-1 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins Saturday at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI.

Milwaukee extended its AHL record of consecutive games without a regulation time loss on the road to 23. The Admirals are 6-0-0-1 on the road this season. The Admirals last regulation loss occurred January 13 at Manitoba.

The Admirals claimed the lead with a pair of goals in the first 2:31 of the second period. Michael Latta started the scoring at 1:05 as he fired a wristshot from the right circle past the glove of Griffins netminder Jordan Pearce. Latta’s fifth goal of the season was assisted by Juuso Puustinen and tied the game at one.

Just 1:26 later, Admirals forward Ben Ryan scored his first AHL goal as he banged in a rebound of a Mark Van Guilder shot. Ryan Flynn carried the puck from behind the net to the right post before passing to Van Guilder for the shot. The rebound off Pearce went to Ryan at the left post for the putback and the Admirals lead at 2:31 of the second period.

Roman Josi scored a power play goal at 11:18 of the third period to close the scoring. The slapshot from the top of the right circle was Josi’s first goal of the season and was assisted by Ryan Ellis and Puustinen.

Grand Rapids claimed an early lead with a power play goal at 3:24 of the first. Willie Coetzee gained the offensive zone on the left wing and carried the puck behind the Milwaukee net. He sent a pass into the slot for Gustav Nyquist. Nyquist’s wristshot went into the net for his fifth goal of the season.
