Magnus Hellberg recalled on emergency basis

According to Kevin Wilson of the Nashville Predators media relations staff, goaltender and the NHL’s Rookie of the Month for November Marek Mazanec is “too sick” to back up Carter Hutton tonight. As a result, Magnus Hellberg has been recalled from the Milwaukee Admirals on an emergency basis.

This is the second time in his career that Hellberg has been recalled.

Nashville, Tenn. (December 17, 2013) – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Magnus Hellberg (MAG-nuhs HEL-buhrg) from Milwaukee (AHL) under emergency conditions.

Hellberg, 22 (4/4/91), has been recalled on one other occasion this season, making his NHL debut on Oct. 26 against St. Louis. In his second season with the Admirals, the Uppsala, Sweden native has posted a 4-10-1 record, a 2.78 goals-against average, a .914 save percentage and one shutout.

The Nashville Predators take on the Chicago Blackhawks tonight at 7 p.m. CT (102.5 FM The Game, FOX Sports Tennessee), the second time the Central Division rivals face-off this year.
