The Milwaukee Admirals are giving their fans a reason to jump around…
On Friday night, the University of Wisconsin will be taking over the Bradley Center, as the Admirals do it up Badger-style.
Along with Blake Geoffrion bobbleheads and the UW Badger Band performing live, the Admirals will be sporting the above Wisconsin-themed jerseys in honor of their collegiate neighbors to the West.
The jerseys will be auctioned off after the game, but fans do not have to be present to bid – bids can be placed online right here.
However, chances are that the Halischuk and the Mueller jerseys will not see any ice time.
The University of Wisconsin has a long history of producing high quality professional hockey players. Aside from the defending Hobey Baker Award winner Geoffrion, the Predators’ Ryan Suter is also a former Badger. Other notable former Badgers include Predator fan favorite Chris Chelios, San Jose’s Dany Heatley, Ryan Suter’s uncle Gary, and 1980 US Olympian Mark Johnson. Johnson’s father, Hall of Fame coach “Badger” Bob Johnson, coached at the school from 1966-1982, winning 7 National Championships. “Badger” Bob would go on to win the 1991 Stanley Cup while coaching Pittsburgh before succumbing to brain cancer shortly before the 1991-1992 season.
You can’t deny that – as an organization – the Milwaukee Admirals have a ton of state pride. They usually sport Milwaukee Brewers logos on the shoulders of their jerseys due to their partnership between the two teams. On Friday, they will be wearing jerseys honoring a local college while skating on ice dedicated to the state’s pro football team.
