Colin Wilson, Patric Hornqvist both put on IR; Halischuk back with Preds…

The worst scoring offense in the National Hockey League will be without two of it’s best offensive threats for some of the upcoming road trip.

The Nashville Predators have placed Colin Wilson and Patric Hornqvist on IR and, according to 102.5 The Game’s Willy Daunic, both will be out at least the next two games.

Wilson is the team’s current leader in goals with seven and Hornqvist led the team in scoring last season (27 goals) and in 2009-10 (30).

Replacing Wilson and Hornqvist is no easy task, especially for this club. So who will fill the holes left in the lineup? Forward Brandon Yip skated with the team today and was activated from the injured reserve. Matt Halischuk, who was sent to the Milwaukee Admirals last week on a conditioning assignment, is back with the Predators and will play against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night.

Halischuk, who had 15 goals for the Predators last season, tallied three points in two games during his conditioning stint in the AHL.

The official press release is below.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 11, 2013) – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled forward Matt Halischuk from his AHL conditioning assignment with the Milwaukee Admirals. Additionally, Brandon Yip was activated from Injured Reserve and forwards Patric Hornqvist and Colin Wilson were placed on Injured Reserve.

Halischuk, 24 (6/1/88), scored two goals in a come-from-behind victory on Friday night, then set up the game-winning goal in another contest the Ads trailed in after two periods on Saturday to finish his conditioning stint with three points (2g-1a) in two games. The Mississauga, Ont., native has one assist and six penalty minutes in 16 games for the Predators this season.

All games will broadcast locally on flagship stations Fox Sports Tennessee (1675 HD, 28 SD) and 102.5 FM The Game. The Predators return home on March 21 to take on the Calgary Flames at Bridgestone Arena for a College Night, presented by Taco Bell. Limited tickets are still available and may be purchased at the Bridgestone Arena box office, through all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.comnashvillepredators.comand (615) 770-7800.
