Kelly Cup champs re-up as ECHL affiliate of Preds…

The East Coast Hockey League’s Cincinnati Cyclones have reached an agreement to renew their affiliation with the NHL’s Nashville Predators.

Just last week the 2010 Kelly Cup Champions announced a new affiliation deal with the Florida Panthers and not the Montreal Canadiens of whom they were involved with last season. The Cincinnati press release goes as far as stating “The Cyclones and Montreal Canadiens have mutually agreed that it was best not to continue their affiliation.”

Interesting.

With the Panthers and Preds on board, the Cyclones will now feed players to the Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville) and the Rochester Americans (Florida) of the American Hockey League. In turn, of course, those teams will feed their parent clubs.

So, I guess if Mike Santorelli really falls from grace, Predators fans can travel five hours up the road and still get to see him play.

You can read all about the new agreement by visiting the Cyclones’ official website.
