The Nashville Predators have selected, with their second pick of the second round, left winger Miikka Salomaki.
Salomaki put up some decent numbers as a teenager in Finland’s top league, SM-Liiga. 10 points in 40 games is an average year for a typical player in that league, let alone by an 17 year old.
He comes from Karpat, the same Finnish club that produced Vezina finalist Pekka Rinne. Salomaki said that he got to meet him at a summer camp recently but they didn’t talk about the NHL much.
