Ryan Suter makes it seven (no, not the Jim Balsillie kind)…

Marco Sturm, who will play for Germany in the Winter Olympics, burried the overtime winner in the 2010 Winter Classic. Just moments afterward, in ironic fashion, he learned the names of some of his Olympic competition.
After the final horn sounded – and handshakes commenced – the announcement of the United States Olympics roster was announced.
As expected, Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan Suter made the cut.
Suter becomes the seventh player in the Nashville organization to be named to his country’s Olympic team. Roman Josi (Switzerland), Marcel Goc (Germany), Alexander Sulzer (Germany), Martin Erat (Czech Republic), Patric Hornqvist (Sweden) and Shea Weber (Canada) are the others.
Also, Suter becomes the latest in a long line of family members that have represented their country on the world’s biggest stage. Ryan’s father Bob Suter was a member of the 1980 Miracle on Ice team that won the Gold Medal in Lake Placid, New York. His Uncle Gary Suter represented his country twice, once in 1998 in the Nagano games and then again in 2002 when the Olympics were in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Congratulations to all seven (eight if you count Alexander Radulov) players in the organization being named to their respective teams.
