#9 :: WEBER’S GOAL WINS FIRST OT GAME, SETS FRANCHISE RECORD
There was once a Nashville Predators captain named Kimmo Timonen. He held the franchise record for goals by a defenseman with 79. That was until another captain came along and broke it.
On March 17, the Predators were deadlocked with the Boston Bruins 3-3. When they entered overtime, Nashville fans held their collective breath praying for a shootout. You see, the Preds hadn’t won a game in overtime all season long. They had needed the shootout to secure extra time victories. So, much to their surprise, when rookie defenseman Steven Kampfer took a hooking penalty in overtime, Ryan Suter dished to Shea Weber who unloaded a shot from the blueline that not only won the first game of the season in OT, but also secured his place as the best Predators defensive goal scorer ever.
Nashville fans hope they see many many more of these.
