The Executive Director of the National Hockey League Players Association, Donald Fehr, addressed the media in New York today. The topic? A new collective bargaining agreement (and the negotiations surrounding it), of course.
The current CBA expires at 10:59pm Central on Saturday, September 15. That gives the NHLPA and the NHL a little more than 48 hours to hammer out a new deal and find a common ground. The owners have said that they will lockout the players if a new deal is not reached.
So how far off are the two sides? Well, both called press conferences to talk about that. The NHLPA’s presser is below.
