Preds Bitten Late vs Sharks
- Updated: October 24, 2018
Wellllllll….If that don’t twist my tailpipe! The Preds commit one of the worst melt-downs in Bridgestone Arena history by blowing a 4-2 lead with 8 minutes to go, and lose to the Sharts 5-4.
After falling behind early, Arvi tied things with a great individual effort streaking up the right wing and undressing Jones with a nifty backhand/forehand finish. The Men in Gold took the lead on e the initial shift of the second period when Scoresburg buried his 6th on a feed from Joey. The Larks re-tied it 7 minutes later, but then the Smashcats answered with two of their own: a relentless round by the JOFA line resulting in Arvi racking his 6th, and Crazy Legs netting his 4th on a 2 on 1 break-in from Arvi.
Things were percolating along pretty well for the first 12 minutes of the final stanza , but then it began to unravel as the Narcs took advantage twice via ugly turnovers (one on a shorty, no less), then converted on a Power Play with less than 3 minutes left. It was just a matter of our guys giving a team loaded with savvy veterans too many quality chances at inopportune times.
Despite the loathsome loss, the Preds—as of this morning—are still tied for the best record in the Division, Conference, and League at 7-2-0, good for 14 points. However, the Candypants could take sole possession with a win this evening, as could the Pets, who are currently 1 point back.
The Sabre Cats will travel up to New Jersey to take on the Bevelheads with newfound grit and resolve on Thursday night. Let’s go Preds!
