PRESS RELEASE: Jr. Preds to play in World Championship of Peewee Hockey
- Updated: November 15, 2012
This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will provide the Jr. Predators players with an unparalleled cultural, educational and athletic experience. Moreover, the Jr. Preds U12 Elite team participation illustrates the growth and development of hockey in Nashville and the Southeast region.
In an effort to offset the significant financial obligation associated with the tournament, the Nashville Jr. Predators U12 Elite team has created the Peace, Love and Hockey fundraising promotion. The Predators are encouraging middle Tennesseans to assist in the team’s quest to become the World Champions of Peewee Hockey.
Peace, Love and Hockey will feature the Grammy Award winning Keb’ Mo, the Alternators, Rebecca Lynn Howard and others. The benefit concert will be held at the unique Two Hippies in the Gulch. Former NHLer and Preds Radio analyst Stu Grimson will host the event; Nashville Predators Head Coach Barry Trotz and other Preds hockey operations staff are scheduled to attend. Please see the flyer posted below for more details.
The Quebec tournament is considered the world’s premier youth hockey event. The competition includes 120 U12 Peewee hockey teams from around the globe, including teams from Germany, Finland and Russia as well as multiple entries from the United States and Canada. Thousands of NHL players, such as Wayne Gretzky, Patrick Roy and Preds alum J-P Dumont, have competed in this prestigous tournament.
