Nashville, Tenn. (March 21, 2011) – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has assigned goaltender Atte Engren (AH-tay EHN-grehn) to Milwaukee (AHL).
Engren, 23 (2/19/88), will be making his North American debut with the Admirals after spending his entire career up to this point in his native Finland. Nashville’s ninth choice, 204th overall (seventh round), in the 2007 Entry Draft has manned the net for TPS Turku of the Finnish Elite League (SM-Liiga) the past two seasons. In 2010-11, the 6-1, 186-pounder tied for fifth among netminders in games played (51), posting a 2.82 goals-against average and .917 save percentage. The Rauma, Finland native signed a two-year contract with Nashville on May 25, 2010.
Coming off last night’s 4-3 overtime victory over the Buffalo Sabres, led by rookie and Brentwood-native Blake Geoffrion’s first NHL hat trick, the Predators return to action tomorrow night for a Western Conference matchup against the Edmonton Oilers (7 p.m., FOX Sports Tennessee, 102.9 The Buzz). Tuesday’s game is a Daily’s Super Tuesday, highlighted by two upper-level tickets for $42 or two lower-level tickets for $92, special concession stands where all items are just $2 and a reduced $2 ticket service fee.
