Six more to Milwaukee as Preds cut roster down once again

training camp huddle (Sarah Fuqua)

Four days ago, the Nashville Predators had 61 names on their training camp roster. Today, they have just 27.

Six more players were assigned to the Milwaukee Admirals, Nashville’s AHL affiliate club, this morning which leaves the Preds with 16 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders.

The biggest surprise still on the roster is free agent forward Simon Moser. The 24-year old Bern, Switzerland, native is in camp on a tryout agreement yet has managed to stick around through four pre-season games. He’s suited up twice so far has just one shot but has logged over 30:00 of ice time. Moser did not play in last night’s home win over the New York Islanders but looks poised to suit up on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Austin Watson, who played six games with the big club at the tail end of last season, was among those sent to Milwaukee. He scored his only goal of the pre-season last night.

The official press release is below.
