LIVE FROM RALEIGH: Saturday’s Mascot Game a huge hit…

Look, I know about eight people will care about this but, for selfish reasons, I absolutely have to say that the mascot game on Saturday night was incredible.

In the NHL SuperSkills appetizer event, Nashville Predators mascot Gnash played goal for the Western Conference while Carlton the Toronto Maple Leaf polar bear tended the nets for the East. (Or at least he tried.)

Because it would be absolutely pointless to recap this game, here are some photos taken by section303.com so you can enjoy the pure sillyness of the event. And remember, if you want to enlarge the photos, just click on them.

By the way, I still contend that the NHL should’ve recorded the game in it’s entirety, added full play-by-play later and then played it over the summer. Would’ve been hilarious and something for the kids.

Trust me, it was fun for all.

Nordy (MIN) and Gnash (NSH) discuss strategy during pre-game.

Harvey the Hound (CGY) takes the opening face-off backwards.

Gnash (NSH) strikes a pose for the young fans seated behind his net.

Stormy (CAR) celebrates while Gnash (NSH), Winger (WSH), Harvey (CGY), Bernie (COL) and NJ Devil (NJ) are in the background.

Gnash (NSH) makes a save on Blades (BOS) from right in front of the net.

All the mascots take a team picture at center ice after the game.
